I have been eyeing this Athena NAP DRESS forever but for some reason can't press 'buy' I think it's because it's a little short for me. I emailed the company asking if they will be creating a longer version or if they could commission one for me and they responded stating a longer version is in the works and if I sign up to their mailing group I will get a message when it is ready to purchase. After all the home schooling sessions, extra dishes and whining over everything we mother's deserve a little something special, don't you think? These are all wonderful gifts, some inexpensive some not. Nothing crazy, because we can't spend too much on ourselves, we don't need anything else to feel guilty about. ;)
I am going on 25W or is it 26W I don't know anymore. :) This time around we found out the gender and it's... a BOY, a little brother for Maddox. Since they are the same gender it's envitable that Baby #2 will get Maddox's hand-me-downs but I still feel the urge to get my new little bundle some speical things. One of them being a cute bonnet. My reasoning is that if he is like his big brother he will be born in the middles of August with little hair and it is will get chilly quickly and he will need his head covered.

I am searching for a netural coloured bonnet in a nice breathable cotton like the one picture above and another knitted one. Haven't decided if I will make the fabric one myself or purchase one. I will definatley buy the knitted one. I have tried knitting and it's just not a skill I have mastered quite yet and don't see myself being able to before like baby 2.0 comes. I have four month-ish to go so you never know I might just find one thrifting and/or adopt a grandma who can knit one for me. :)

Here is some I have found on made by

Hello Dolls,
Hope everyone had great week. The weather has been unfamiliar, so much rain but hopefully all those May flowers will be coming up soon.

Here is what stood out to me on the web this week.

Fashion

Pearl Studs, personally I think this would be the perfect Mother's Day Gift for myself if I didn't already buy these shoes

Love this DIY Tutroial for 4 different types of cut off jeans.

Love these pants featured on Walk in Wonderland. If you look on Macy's website they are a lot longer I really like how she wore them higher on the calf, what do you think?

Fun

Love the idea of turning a kids picture of a make believe animal into a stuffy, such a great keepsake.

Family

Great article about siblings and the sometimes complicated relationship people struggle with, myself included. Made me stop and think my situation with my brother and how to accept some things and change others.

Some simple Montseorri activites to with Maddox while I am in the kitchen.

Food

I think by now we all know that waste is a problem in our lives, it's literally everywhere and so convenient I mean why bring a cup to the coffee shop when they give you a cup anyway? Or you had the intention of bringing a cup and forgot it but really still want that cup of coffee so why not, they have the cup and I will bring my reusable cup the next time. This type of monolgue goes through my head almost everyday. Which has brought me to realize that I don't like all the waste I produce and I need to do something about it.

So without further a do, welcome to my new series Waste-Less Wednesdays!! I would love to be Waste-Free but at the moment the task seems daunting. So let's keep it simple (for now) and 'Waste-Less'.

My personal goal is to significantly reduce my household waste by 2018.

How to measure: By the amount of garage and compost bags that go out each week (garbage every other week)

Here are some articles that I have inspired me

GOOP - great tips on how to be wasteless and if you can afford/justify it the blisshaus system is so beautiful

Reep Green -
When I was little their was only 3 R's now there is 5

<h4 style="color: #77c144; font-family: "Roboto Condensed", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400 !important; line-height: 20px; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-rendering: optimizeLegibility; text-transform: uppercase !important;">
THE 5 R’S OF ZERO WASTE LIVING

<div style="color: #747474; font-family: "Roboto Condensed", sans-serif; font-size: 12px; margin-bottom: 20px !important;">
Refuse and instead purchase items that can be borrowed, rented, and repaired.

<div style="color: #747474; font-family: "Roboto Condensed", sans-serif; font-size: 12px; margin-bottom: 20px !important;">
Reduce waste by saying no to excessive packaging (i.e. gift wrap).

<div style="color: #747474; font-family: "Roboto Condensed", sans-serif; font-size: 12px; margin-bottom: 20px !important;">
Reuse by passing items along to others who may need them (i.e. donating).

<div style="color: #747474; font-family: "Roboto Condensed", sans-serif; font-size: 12px; margin-bottom: 20px !important;">
Recycle items to save their value (i.e. batteries).

<div style="color: #747474; font-family: "Roboto Condensed", sans-serif; font-size: 12px; margin-bottom: 20px !important;">
Rot the rest (i.e. composting)

NO BAG BAN

TIP #1: Use Reusable Bags

This is probably one of the biggest things people use and don't think about. Grocery stores now charge you... wait for it $0.05 for one, It does make you pause and think about it but I still pay for them and wind having a bunch in your house. I hate it, you can barely reuse them now anyway because they are so thin so why have them in the house as extra crap you don't need? One less thing to feel guilty about.

But what will you use as a garbage liner now that you don't have any plastic bags?
Well based on the Goop article you really shouldn't need a 'liner' because if you are doing all the 5 R's then your garbage really shouldn't be anything wet so a liner isn't really necessary.

So I am Banning Plastic Bags from my house and you should do the same! :)

After a hiatus I am bringing back the 5 F's. I wasn't sure if I wanted this as part of blog anymore but after a long, long thought I have decided I miss it and those 5 F's and it's helping me figure out my blog voice! :)

Family-
Maddox still does not sleep through the night so I have been reading this book trying to wrap my head around things and come to terms that he may not sleep through the night for awhile and I am enjoying our little time together at 2AM when he comes into our bed and snuggles in.
However, i am adamant he must start the night in his own bed and in that book it explains that kids find it easier to follow visual things more so than you just telling them what you are doing next showing them can make it easier for them to understand.
Here is my inspo for our bedtime routine chart

Fashion- I can't wear these Levi's yet but i am totally buying them for next spring/summer.

I just got a table/toy storage ikea unit in the hallway I have been trying to figure out how to style it, then I saw this picture and knew what it was missing!!!

I need this dress (pictured at the top of post) as well, for next year... LOL

Fitness

I am obsessed with these little yoga how to cards, if you follow me on pinterest you can tell... as well as I think I have pinned about 10 this week. I love how much they explain the pose which helps me visulaize all the things you need to do a pose correctly. All of these 'asanas of week' can be found on this tumblr page.

I have been doing a flow of Warrior I, II and III, high lunge, child's pose, low squat and dolphin. I practice for about 15 minutes in the morning and i can't believe how good I feel and it's a great way to start the day.

Food

Trying to figure out how to make the best overnight oats and this post I found the proper ratio should be 1:1 for rolled oats, I tried 1:3 with steel cut oats and I don't think much as happened as the jar is in the back of my fridge and there is a lot of liquid and little oats so I don't think steel cut is the best option for overnight oats....

I love love love Chia pudding!! and I know this ration off by heart, it is one 13-ish oz of coconut milk to 1/4 cup Chia seeds, a dash of vanilla and/or maple syrup put in the fridge overnight. top with berries in the morning and volia the perfect addition to my morning breakfast. I want to try and layer the Chia seeds with the overnight oats and also add some different ingredients to change it up a bit.

I eat 2 eggs every morning with toast but, I am looking for some extra fat and a way to add refried beans in my life because I love them and I'm pregnant, enough said. :) Going to try a take on this recipe for next week with some variations.

Fun: Reading the second book by Ami McKay 'The Virgin Cure' and it is just as good as her first book 'The Birth House', I just love to go back in time with her.

I think all woman agree, no matter what, the first trimester is the hardest.

The things that are bothering me right now are;

- I feel like crap but you can't tell anyone or you aren't ready to tell anyone yet
- I am so tired, I am literally a zombie 4-6 days a week
- The only things appetizing is anything and everything that is a carbohydrate (the devil)
- Vegetables are gross
- Chicken, especially raw is unbearable to smell, look at, or eat
- Constipation to the max. I mean I have always had poop problems but, it's amplified when i am pregnant

This time is especially grueling. Right now, I can't even go grocery shopping without feeling like I have to puke. It's terrible.

However I am near the end of the first trimester and that is usually when the crappness stops and the belly begins....

This time around I decided I wanted to slowly work with a Naturopath to make this preganany alittle bit easier on my body. My last pregnancy was great but, I don't think I made the best food choices or took care of myself enough. I am hoping that meeting with someone on regular basis and being accountable might make me stay 'on track'.

My first appt was on Monday and this is what was prescribed to me;

Eat a plant based diet-
More specifically, to ensure a stable blood flow each meal should have a complex carb, protein and healthy fat

Excercise for 20 min a day-
walking, weight at home or gym, yoga

Get Better Sleep
I love, LOVE to fall asleep to TV it's my time to relax. apparently it's the devil though I need to start trying to fall asleep without it

Supplements:
Basic Prenatal 3X a day
Prenatal DHA 3X a day
HMF Maternity Probiotic 1X a day
Vitamin D3 drops 2000 IU/ Day (two drops)

Drink at least 2L of water a day: I was really good at this pre-pregnancy and while pregnant with Maddox but, for some reason right now water is hard to swallow.... Ridiculous I know

Doesn't sound too hard does it???? To be continued :)

10 weeks and already have a 'belly'

Christmas came early to our family this year, we found out in mid-November that we are expecting our second baby, 'Baby J 2.0'. My due date is mid August and we couldn't be happier to be to be having a (late) summer baby. When baby arrives my first born (Maddox) and baby will be about 28 months apart (almost 2.5 years).

How am I feeling?
Physically the last two months has been a struggle. I got the flu, twice, once on Boxing Day and again two weeks ago. Having the flu twice in less than one month while pregnant, not so fun. I have been quite lethargic, I just want to sleep and relax whenever I get the chance. However I am still taking care of a toddler but as my husband likes to point out I am leaving a much bigger trail of things behind... As in I haven't been the best at keeping up with daily chores. however i do feel better this week than I have in awhile probably because the second trimester is coming up!!! Thank goodness

Emotionally I am feeling a lot of things I didn't feel when I was pregnant with the first Baby J. I am moruning my son's baby-ness even though he is still a baby, I literally cry at every sad thing I come across, a mom having breakfast with her son at a cafe, any commerical that involves family.
I feel quite nest-y this time, I just want to be at home puttering with my son and soak up every minute with him while I can before 2.0 arrives.

I had a great pregnancy with Maddox, he was born perfectly healthy and looking back I felt pretty good, just tired. I feel more tired this time because Maddox is still not sleeping through the night consistantly so that is quite draining.

Things I want to do Differently This Time

Take better care of myself mentally and physically- already started working with a nauropath
Pamper myself when I can, e.g massage, bath, facial
Sleep train next baby ASAP
Do not leave my house for 40 days after baby is born
Take care of me first and not worry about other ppl
Find out the gender
Figure out a routine and stick with it
Set boundaries with in-laws
Tell my husband these things so he knows what I am planning/expecting and what he thinks
If you missed my original post here is the link. It may be late but it's fun to see what/how I did last month and although I know I didn't meet all my goals I am still proud of my success.

1. Take My Vitamins Every. Single. Day.

I started out strong taking my cocktail every lunch for at least
two weeks. However, I fell off the wagon but I am still trying to remember (as
I look at my little vitamin box seeing I still haven't taken today's mix. I
don't think I took them consecutively enough to see/feel results but I am
really going to try to keep taking them.

Is it just me or is taking vitamins pretty much the hardest thing to do next to getting out of bed? I don't know what it is. I will do it for a bit and then I stop for no reason. I have done it where I set up a reminder every day but, I ignore it half the time. During the week everyone probably remembers but, then the week end comes and everything goes down the tube. So I am going to make a conscious effort and take 'my vitamins' every day for a whole month. I am going to make this an experiment as well. We take vitamins because they are supposed to make us feel better. Well, after I take my vitamins for a full month, will I feel different, better hopefully. I will keep you posted.
This didn't even happen once. Pre-baby I loved to work out and
feel good. Probably because I had more time or cared more, no that's not true,
I do care I just don't have the time and since cutting out carbs (a lot, but
not all the time) my weight is exactly where I want it, making it even harder
to get motivated to workout. However, I am lacking in the toning department and
really need to find the time even to do just a 15 workout a day to gets the
blood flowing. I notice when I don't work out, especially in the winter I am a
lot colder then when I do. Placebo? Maybe but it's motivating because I hate
being cold.

I ain't rich but, my husband is very knowledgeable when it comes to health the fitness. He claims he can get me into shape by just going outside and well, I believe him. So, for the month of November I am committing to him to get my butt perkier for our pretend trip to Mexico this winter. :)

5. Organize my projects-

Again, didn't finish ( I know a common theme) but I did work on organizing all my sewing projects. They were in nice piles in my closet but then I got sick of looking at them and decided to throw them all into a suitcase and deal with later. One day in the near future I will be able to sew and finish all my projects, one day.

Lately I have been really into having a notepad with me at all times to jot down things that enter my mind throughout the day and it really helps me to make lists, prioritize and so on. Doesn't mean I do all the things but it helps me figure out what I want to do.

That being said, I have like 10 million sewing projects that I have started and although I want to complete them sometimes I get overwhelmed and don't know how to complete them and just throw it in a pile. So my goal is to list all of the projects I have on the go, prioritize them all and then for each one right out what steps I need to do to get them done. I think this is a great exercise for me to do as it will help me visualize what needs to get done and really can or not.

I love my husband and I especially love him in the winter. He likes to grow out his beard a little for, you know, extra warmth. The more it grows the more you see all the different colours in his beard, the reds, browns and blonds. It's so nice to look at and rub your face against.

I am sure you all agree that a bearded man is the best kinda man.

Here are some gift ideas any hubby with a beard would enjoy.

Is it just me or is Macrame having a moment right now? I love how they bring a subtle boheme look to any place. The below three are my favourite DIY's.

1. Macrame Curtains for the win, this looks pretty easy to do and would be fun even just to hang on a wall.

Is it just me or
is taking vitamins pretty much the hardest thing to do next to getting out of bed? I
don't know what it is. I will do it for a bit and then I stop for no reason. I
have done it where I set up a reminder every day but, I ignore it half the time. During the week everyone probably remembers but, then the week end comes and everything goes down
the tube. So I am going to make a conscious effort and take 'my vitamins' every day for
a whole month. I am going to make this an experiment as well. We take vitamins because they are supposed to make us feel better. Well, after I take my vitamins for a full month, will I feel different, better hopefully. I will keep you posted.

5. Organize my
projects-

Lately I have been
really into having a notepad with me at all times to jot down things that enter
my mind throughout the day and it really helps me to make lists, prioritize and
so on. Doesn't mean I do all the things but it helps me figure out what I want
to do.

That being said, I
have like 10 million sewing projects that I have started and although I want to
complete them sometimes I get overwhelmed and don't know how to complete them
and just throw it in a pile. So my goal is to list all of the projects I have on the go, prioritize them all and then for each one right out what steps I
need to do to get them done. I think this is a great exercise for me to do as it will help me visualize what needs to get done and really can or not.

This week has flewn by, Maddox has been sick with a cold and getting teeth, he has been pretty good considering.

Fashion

1. I love the above mom's haircut RIGHT NOW, the mid-length bang she is rockin' is awesome. PS she is the owner of Solly Baby Wrap and here is the link to her home tour, it's lovely.
2. Not sure what it is but I love all things with the Hudson Bay stripes and I would love to see my little man rockin' this puffer next year. I mean it is just so cute and I could totally find him in a snowstorm.

Fun

1. Working up the courage to ask my husband to make one of these next year

Food

1. These snack/lunch boxes are so pretty and inspiring and reminds me that I need to start eating like that, again.
2. Beet Fries are delcious. I made these this week when Maddie and I played hookie from work (he was sick) I paired them with Turkey Meatballs and Aoli, (Mayo with Garlic in it) I read somewhere that Garlic Aoli is just Aoli. This was a great meal.
3. Maddox has not been eating very well, he has become a snacker but not my choice I think it's due to him being sick and our new daycare routine of eating a snack and having a bottle while sitting in traffic trying to get home. I found this article about what a healthy diet for 18 month old should and he's doing ok.

Family

1. A small article about Postive Displine that I can relate to and aspire to.

Fitness

1. I worked out this week..... LOL
2. Lo Boworth Lauched a wellness line for women everywhere, the products are legit. Go Lo!

Have a great week end everyone!
It's Fall, finally!! This week end we got most of our Winterizing List completed but there is still a couple more things to do, I was distracted by a cute little babe so it was worth it not to get everything done :). It was beautiful out and these socks worked perfect to wear with my kamik rainboots (Canadian Brand and Made in Canada). These socks sit slightly above my boots so when you wear them with a Shirt dress you can see the Red and white pop out of the boot! They are super comfy as all things are from Roots, and at $12 a pair you can't go wrong!jmcleanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18148396049627602120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4267531847621008875.post-11300345525394364622016-10-21T07:27:00.004-07:002016-10-21T07:27:36.991-07:00FAMILY: Our Winterizing Checklist
